On the afternoon of May 29, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon and President of the Republic of Turkey Abdullah Gul participated in the forum of Tajik and Turkish businessmen, held in the Metropolitan Hotel «Hyatt Regency».
                   It should be noted that, together with President Abdullah Gul, along with a large delegation of representatives of Parliament and the Government of Turkey, arrived and more than 150 prominent businessmen and merchants of this country.
                    Speaking at a forum of business people of both countries, the Heads of State Emomali Rakhmon and Abdullah Gul indicated that opportunities for the multifaceted bilateral cooperation and called on Turkish businessmen to invest in the economy of Tajikistan, and forge mutually beneficial relations with the Tajik business.
                    President Emomali Rahmon noted with satisfaction the growing number of foreign countries with which Tajikistan supports the trade and economic relations, and appealed to the representatives of Turkish business to strengthen their business ties with our country. He stressed that Tajikistan's trade turnover with foreign countries over the past five years increased by more than two and a half times. The volume of trade with the Republic of Turkey for the period amounted to nearly two billion U.S. dollars. Emomali Rahmon also pointed to opportunities and reserves of cooperation in the areas of hydropower, light industry, agriculture, construction and other industries.
                   Turkish businessmen have shown interest in participating in the construction of power plants and joint ventures for production of construction materials and processing of cotton fiber, Shelkovichnaya cocoons, leather, wool, fruit, vegetables, precious and semiprecious stones. Perspective has been identified and involved in road construction, administrative and residential buildings, and objects of tourist infrastructure.
                    After participating in the Forum of Presidents of Tajikistan and Turkey visited the Tajik-Turkish lyceum named Khodja Kamol Dushanbe where noted with satisfaction the high level of knowledge of its students.
